A Brief Introduction of Programmable Logic Controller : A Footstep Towards 4th Industrial Revolution

UIU Electrical & Electronic Club comes with another technical event on “𝐀 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫: 𝐀 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” for its members and all the engineering students of UIU.

Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) have become an essential device for automating manufacturing processes. Developed in 1960s, PLCs started out the size of suitcases and required logic programs to be drawn out on a drafting board before being loaded onto the device with a numeric keypad. Since then, PLCs have evolved to be smaller, faster, and more powerful to keep up with the increasing demands and sophistication of modern manufacturing.

The PLC is still seen as the main control center for the manufacturing machines even in Industry 4.0 and other "Smart Factory" initiatives. The PLC can be seen as the central processor for all real-time decisions for the manufacturing process.

UIU Electrical & Electronic Club comes with another on-campus Workshop on" 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐫𝐝𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨 " for its members and all the engineering students of UIU. Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. Our honorable instructor will introduce you to basic electronics. The workshop is curated in a way that we impart practical and industry insights apart from theoretical knowledge.
